At least it seems like Luxord doesn't mean the children any harm. But he's still not comfortable with this situation.

He pauses for a moment to fish out Michiko's teething ring as the child tries to chew on the collar of his coat. She seems pleased to accept the teething ring instead however, leaving the collar alone.
"I really don't want this to come to a fight, Luxord. So tell me what I have to do to prove I'm being honest."
Because he doesn't want to risk the kids getting hurt and he's not letting Luxord walk off with Masaru and Izumi.
